Confidentiality Statement

During the course of communication at whatever level, AngelEye will handle a great deal of sensitive information. Enquirers, Referrers, Applicants and Clients, have a right to privacy and to expect that all personal information about them will be handled sensitively and confidentially.

AngelEye aims to encourage openness, while ensuring that the individuals’ privacy is respected. The confidentiality policy and associated procedures set the framework within which personal and any other potentially sensitive information is to be collected, stored, handled and disclosed.

Policy

AngelEye will protect the privacy of individuals accessing this service, will handle personal information sensitively, and will act at all times in such a way as to protect the best interests of any person accessing this service and that of AngelEye.

Procedures

The overriding aim is to protect and promote the best interests of individuals and of AngelEye Counselling Service, and any question should be answered by reference to this principle. AngelEye  Counsellors will:

1. Explain our confidentiality policy to all clients before contracting for counselling. Ensuring that ‘the client’ understands the policy and his or her rights within that.

2. Do nothing that is not in the best interest of their clients.

3. Ensure that the counselling relationship is for the benefit of the client, and the emotional well being of the client will be the paramount concern of the counsellor.

4. Ensure that the number of counselling sessions will be kept to the minimum required to achieve the aims the client wants to achieve through counselling.

5. Maintain total confidentiality, subject only to the following exceptions

a) Disclosures with the express permission of the client.

b) Disclosures which lead the counsellor to believe that serious harm may befall a third party .

c) Disclosures, which lead the counsellor to believe that the clients’ life, may be in danger through self-harm, suicide or third party involvement.

d) Disclosures that would leave the counsellor liable to civil or
criminal court procedure if not disclosed.

6. Store sensitive information pertaining to their clients in such a way as to not allow confidentiality to be breached at any time.
